Submit Work

Bank of Sally Shore publishes stories, photographs, lore fragments, and maker profiles from contributors worldwide. If you have something that belongs at the tideline, we want to see it.

What We Publish

  • Short fiction — coastal, mythic, quiet. Under 3,000 words.
  • Micro-essays — observations, field notes, meditations. 500–1,500 words.
  • Lore fragments — origin stories of shells, techniques, places. Any length.
  • Photography — editorial quality. Shells, tidelines, studio work, coastal landscapes.
  • Maker profiles — tell us about your practice. We’ll write it up or publish yours.

What We Don’t Publish

  • Product listings or catalog copy
  • AI-generated text without disclosure
  • Content that disrespects Hawaiian cultural practices
  • Anything that reads like an advertisement

  • Original work only. Previously published work considered if rights have reverted.
  • High-resolution images. Minimum 2400px on the long side, uncompressed.
  • Include a brief bio (2–3 sentences) and a headshot if available.
  • Response time: We read everything. Allow 2–4 weeks for a response.
